happy february friends! the mossy fox has had lots of changes in the last few months and i’m really excited to share them with you! and to also get back into filling my blog with mossy fox work, things that inspire me, and a little bit of fashion.  here are just a handful of changes the shop has seen in recent weeks…

a long awaited update

I am so excited to get back to blogging about the Mossy Fox again! I've been on an unexpectedly long hiatus from the shop for a little while, but I'm back in full swing again, and it feels good! We moved at the beginning of June from Santa Fe, Texas to Cottonwood, Arizona and it was a really great move! While I'll miss Texas and the handmade community there, I love being in Arizona! It's a really great state....aside from the bugs :)

I've been working diligently on the Fall & Winter lines of the Bohemian Fox & Vibrant Voyage collections, put together a few new Lacy Tree pieces, & created a new collection called Peaceful Bird Earrings (which are made from clay)....and let me tell you, I am so excited to get all of these out to the world! Keep an eye out for the Fall & Winter lookbook, it's going to be packed full of all this goodness.

And I just finished putting together a website for The Mossy Fox that has it's own little shop....that's not quite stocked yet but it will be soon. If you want to check it out, click here.

Chicago Renegade is just around the corner too! I'll be heading to the market to sell the fantastic fox goods September 8th & 9th. If your in the Chicago area, make sure you check out the market and stop by the booth. The other artists who'll be there are pretty incredible too. You can take a peak at who will be there here.

renegade love { 2.of.2 }

The Renegade craft fair in Austin this past weekend was FABULOUS! I had so much fun selling jewelry, meeting customers & getting to know some really wonderful artists. I love craft fairs cause I love HANDMADE goods! So I just couldn't resist some of the products the very talented artists are selling. Low & behold I came home feeling like Christmas day, you'll see why....

{ satchel & sage }

Let me tell you, I love prints! I love to fill my work space with things that inspire me. And Satchel & Sage create pieces that are right up my inspiration ally! The designers are Gerren & Morgana, an incredibly talented husband & wife duo making illustrations & typography. I simply love their work & I am really excited to put these three pieces in my workspace! 

{ son of a sailor }

I was really so excited to meet Jessica & William of Son of Sailor this weekend. They are both incredibly wonderful & talented & I'm not gonna lie, I've been ogling over their jewelry for a while now. Not to mention I really admire them for their success in the handmade community. They are both very down to earth too, I could spend all day with them :) But since I can't, I will be spending all day with their necklace. I have fallen in love with this piece and I just can't stop wearing it {the ship seemed like an appropriate touch to this photo!}

{ little minnow }

The gals of Little Minnow are simply lovely! These adorable sisters, Lizzi & Mary, are so sweet & make some really incredible screen printed goods, including this adorable scarf I brought home. Along with scarves, they also make some fantastic block prints & screen printed shirts...did I mention this is all done in house by the ladies! So talented! Be sure to check out their cute blog too! 

{ little low }

Oh Little Low, how I do fancy thee. The lovely Caitlin is the designer behind Little Low & also Feb10 Designs! This gal is talented, as you can see from these amazing prints! I was really excited to meet Caitlin & find her Wild & Free print because as many of you know, the Mossy Fox's 'logo' is "all good things are wild & free" a quote by Henry Thoreau. Because of this I feel an extra connection to Caitlin, her style, & designs....it was meant to be :) 

{ tru.che }

I am always so impressed by jewelry artists who use metal in their work, especially when it involves casting & stamping...probably because it intimidates me ;) So when Stevie, the sweet gal behind tru.che, came to my booth & introduced herself, I knew I had to check out here jewelry. I did and I had to have these earrings and necklace! Much like Stevie, these pieces are adorable! So simple, stylish & everything I love in jewelry. You can check out her Etsy shop, here. { poppy & fern }

Right across the way from me was Rechal of Poppy & Fern. Not only was her set up freaking adorable but her embroidered jewelry & art are truly lovely & beautiful. Not only is Rechal incredibly talented but her and her husband, Joshua, are such wonderful people! Kyle & I had a lot of fun chatting with them both! And I'm excited to wear this lovely detailed stitched owl necklace. Are you jealous?? :)

{ rachel elise }

I have been eyeing this Rachel Elise bag for a while now, first on Etsy, then at the Dallas Handmade Bash & again at Renegade Austin...and thanks to a little trading of goods, I now get to enjoy it everyday! The designer/maker of this bag and the many more amazing purses & wears is Rachel, a wonderful gal who I really enjoyed getting to know this weekend. Her style is similar to the Mossy Fox but in the form of purses. I LOVE IT! Rachel is so sweet & genuine, & not to mention very talented with her designs & sewing. { ello lovely }

Not far from our booth at Renegade, was ello lovely. The maker of ello lovely, Rhianna, is a very talented illustrator & designer. And I love love love her work! This gal is so wonderfully fun & is creating fantastic pieces, like this fox print I picked up. It seems rather fitting :) Be sure to check out Rhianna's etsy shop, here & her lovely blog, here. 

{ amanda barr ceramics }

 The last thing I picked up right before the Renegade doors closed for the weekend, were these two little ceramic bowls from Amanda Barr Ceramics. I love her handmade ceramics, they are so fun! The mustache is for my husband, Kyle & the fox is for myself....which holds my new jewelry rather nicely.

I also was really excited to meet Danni of oh, hello friend. Danni is a creative blogger/jewelry maker. Like many at Renegade, she is incredibly sweet & down to earth. I love this girl's blog & her adorable & stylish jewelry!

{ lisa chow }

Lisa Chow is one of my very favorite artists...EVER. Last fall when I went to Renegade as a shopper, Kyle & I picked up one of her incredibly details, whimsical & fun prints. This girl is talented! She is completely self taught and is inspire by whim....which is my favorite kind of inspiration :) Her new collection is just extra whimsical & quirky, playing off of Alice in Wonder Land, & I want every piece! Check out her work on her website & her etsy shop. Oh & stop by her blog, which I love.

I also was so happy to meet miss Jessica, the blogger/crafter/photographer/cutie of onetwothreepeaceful. If you haven't heard of Jessica or her blog, CHECK HER OUT! She is a fantastically fun blogger & has some incredible style!

And I think I can for sure say that her business card is my favorite.

I can't get over how creative these gals & guys are, it shows even in their business cards...

renegade love { 1.of.2 }

FINALLY a blog post! It's been a long while since I've really blogged, life has been quite crazy! A quick rewind of the last month....two trips to New Orleans, made a big decision to move to Arizona, was a vendor at the Dallas Handmade Bash and the Austin Renegade....and now it's time to fill a wholesale order, get new products on etsy, pack up my house in the next three days & go on a quick road trip with my dear friend Helen of Cloth & Ink

Wow it makes my head spin just thinking about it all! So yes we are moving in about a week, from Santa Fe, Texas to Cottonwood, Arizona. I am super excited to move but incredibly sad. I'll post more about this big move soon!

This last weekend The Mossy Fox was at Austin Renegade and let me tell you, it was a BLAST! There are so many things I love about markets, it's hard to decide what my favorite is...selling my goods, meeting customers, getting to know other artists or trading goods with those artists. I just loved the entire experience. It's also a time I cherish because after endless hours of designing & making jewelry, I get to see my pieces being purchased & taken home with someone who loves them as much as I do! It is so rewarding and I really need that interaction with other people after being cooped up in my little home studio. 

There were so many incredible artists at the Austin Renegade this year, from art, to textile, to jewelry, to sewn goods. And all these goods were handmade. I FREAKING LOVE IT! The folks I was so blessed to meet were so genuine & wonderful, & if you ever get the chance to go check out Renegade, GO cause it's pretty fantastic. Ok...enough of the positive ranting, I wanted to post some photos of this weekend at Renegade!

sneak peak of the Vibrant Voyage Collection

I'm really excited to give a little sneak peak into the Vibrant Voyage Collection, The Mossy Fox summer line. I have to admit, I finished designing the collection weeks ago but I was having trouble finding a name that embodied the entire collection. Last night as my husband and I wracked our brains, we decided on the Vibrant Voyage. And I couldn't be happier with it! The collection is inspired by the glam girl, vibrant colors & wild summer adventures we should all be having. And like most of my designs, simplicity. These pieces are simple in style but the colors speak for themselves. And I just can't get enough of the incredible colors of the beads and the different shapes...I used to hold a grudge against faceted/hex beads but they have redeemed themselves in my heart :)

mossy fox promotional accordion fold

Next month (the 5^th of may) I am excited to attend & sell at the Dallas Handmade Bash. For the event there will be Bash Bags given away to 50 lovely ladies, with promotional goodies from vendors. I’m not gonna lie, I kinda want a bag cause I know the goodies from all the amazing vendors will be so fun & creative!

For my bash bag contribution, I made little folding accordion promotions with a cute Mossy Fox button. My inspiration for the accordion came from Erin Jang of The Indigo Bunting and her clever accordion Valentines Day card, which you can check out here. I loved the concept and as I contemplated how I would brighten someone’s day while standing out among the other Bash artists who would also provide a promotion, I decided this was it. So I set out to design an accordion fold that was fun and vibrant and yes, would enviably draw ladies to my booth :)

Along with vibrant colors, a coupon for the event and a business card, I used a quote from Henry David Thoreau that holds a special place in my heart, “all good things are wild and free” (you can check out the essay here). I love love love this quote and while it started out as something fun for people to read and be inspired by, it has quickly become a staple for The Mossy Fox. It embodies the simplest concept of what I set out for The Mossy Fox to be…free spirited jewelry designs that are simple, lovely and inspire my life on the most basic levels (and that I hope inspire other people’s lives).

I modified the accordions to also be a regular promotion I could give to people and send with online orders, I just want to give them to everyone! :) And the buttons, I’ll be selling at markets, turned out more fantastic than I’d hoped! Ida, is my little dear who helps me in some of my jewelry photos. And the flowers are from my vintage couch, which have been apart of the shop's logo from the beginning. I want to put these buttons on everything!
